Bantul, Yogyakarta (Antaranews Jogja) - The Bantul district government in the Yogyakarta special region has planned to develop tourist areas gradually, according to Bantul Tourism Office spokesman Kwintarto Heru.

"We have held a coordination meeting to discuss how to organize the beaches in Bantul gradually by improving the facilities and infrastructure there to make them more attractive for tourists," Heru remarked here on Friday.

He noted that the gradual development of tourist areas in Bantul is in accordance with the directive of Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X to make the district one of the main tourist destinations in the special region of Yogyakarta.

Bantul has several natural and artificial tourist attractions along the south coast, attractions in the Mangunan Dlingo hills, as well as tourist villages that continue to emerge every year.

"We agree with what the Sultan has said that we will gradually organize all the attractions despite budget constraints and by using our abilities," Heru remarked.

He also pointed out that the growth in unhealthy tourism practices will reduce the number of tourist visits, for which a strategy must be in place to maintain the appeal of tourist destinations.
